Apiary Sanctuary Requirements
Welcome to The Apiary Sanctuary Foundation! We are not just a place to stay but a community committed to your recovery journey. Our goal is to provide a supportive and structured environment for Foster Adults, Displaced Mothers, and Veterans in Florida. We have established specific requirements for our residents, not to restrict, but to ensure a harmonious living experience and a successful recovery journey.
Sober Living/Rules Guest Agreement
Residents must agree to abide by the sober living rules and sign a guest agreement upon entry. This agreement outlines the expectations and responsibilities of each resident to maintain a drug and alcohol-free environment and contribute positively to the community.
Code of Conduct and House Rules
To create a safe and respectful living environment, all residents must adhere to the following code of conduct and house rules:
Relapse: Immediate Reporting and Action: Relapse is taken seriously at The Apiary Sanctuary Foundation. Residents must immediately report to the house manager if they relapse, ensuring the safety and integrity of the sober living environment. If a resident consumes alcohol or drugs, they must inform the house manager right away, regardless of the circumstances.
Relapse Policy: Temporary Removal and Reapplication: Residents who relapse must leave the premises immediately to ensure the safety of other residents. They may reapply for residency after completing a detox program and demonstrating a renewed commitment to sobriety. A resident who relapses will be provided with information on nearby detox facilities and can return to the house after providing proof of detox completion.
Advancing One's Recovery: Active Participation: Residents are encouraged to actively participate in their recovery by attending support meetings, counseling, and following their personalized recovery plan. This proactive approach helps residents stay focused and motivated. Residents might attend weekly AA meetings, meet with a counselor regularly, and follow a structured daily routine supporting recovery goals.
Requirements: Commitment to Sobriety and Responsibilities: Residents must commit to sobriety, attend house meetings, complete assigned chores, and follow all house rules and curfews. These requirements ensure a stable and supportive environment for everyone. A resident is expected to be present at the weekly house meeting every Sunday evening, complete their assigned cleaning duties, and adhere to the 10 PM curfew on weekdays.
Violence: Zero Tolerance: Any form of physical violence, threats, or aggressive behavior is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of residency. Safety and respect are paramount. If a resident threatens another resident or engages in a physical altercation, they will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
Cleanliness: Maintaining a Hygienic Environment: Residents are required to maintain cleanliness in personal and shared spaces. Assigned chores must be completed, and everyone must contribute to a clean and hygienic environment. Residents rotate weekly cleaning duties such as vacuuming common areas, cleaning bathrooms, and ensuring the kitchen is tidy afterward.
Being a Good Neighbor: Respecting the Community: Residents must respect the neighborhood by following noise ordinances, maintaining the exterior property, and being courteous to neighbors. This helps foster a positive relationship with the local community. Keeping noise levels down after 9 PM and participating in neighborhood clean-up events.
Refunds: No Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued if a resident is asked to leave due to rule violations or decides to leave voluntarily. This policy is communicated to all residents when they enter. If a resident leaves the program after two weeks, they will not receive a refund for the remaining month.
Curfew: Ensuring Safety and Structure: The curfew is midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10 PM Sunday through Thursday. Adhering to curfew helps maintain structure and safety within the residence. Residents are expected to be inside the house by 10 PM on weekdays unless they have prior approval from the house manager for work or other valid reasons.
Overnight Outs: Prior Approval Required: Residents must obtain approval from the house manager for overnight absences and provide documentation if required. This ensures accountability and safety. If a resident needs to stay overnight at a family member's house, they must inform the house manager and provide details of their stay in advance.
Non-Resident Rule: No Unauthorized Guests: Guests are not allowed on the premises without prior approval from the house manager. Overnight guests are strictly prohibited to maintain security and respect for all residents. Friends or family members can visit during approved hours, but they cannot stay overnight under any circumstances.
Rent and Responsibility of Money: Timely Payments: Monthly room charges are payable by the first of each month via debit card, PayPal, or Cash App. Residents are responsible for ensuring timely payments to avoid disruptions in their residency. A resident sets up an automatic payment through PayPal to ensure their rent is paid on time each month.
Medications: Proper Management and Reporting: Prescription medications must be reported to the house manager and stored securely. Misuse or improper storage of medications is strictly prohibited. Residents keep their prescription medications in a locked box and inform the house manager of any changes to their medication regimen.
Informing Management About a Guest Who Has Relapsed: Responsibility to Report: Residents are responsible for informing management if they become aware of another resident's relapse. This ensures the safety and sobriety of the community. If a resident notices signs of relapse in a fellow resident, they must report their concerns to the house manager immediately.
You Are Not a Tenant Under Florida State Law: Understanding Residency Status: Residents are considered guests in a recovery residence, not tenants, and must adhere to the house rules and guidelines. This distinction is important for understanding the nature of residency and the expectations involved. Residents acknowledge that their stay is conditional on following house rules and contributing positively to the recovery environment.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement
We encourage residents to provide feedback to help us improve our program. Regular assessments and data collection help us refine our services and ensure we are meeting the needs of our community.
